ACC Round Rock Yoga

ACC Round Rock Yoga

ACC Round Rock Student Life hosted a free
yoga event called Humble Heart Yoga on Wednesday, December 4th. Located in the Student Life lounge, the event
allowed students an opportunity to de-stress before finals. Here’s the Round Rock Student Life Coordinator
Samella McCou said after hosting the session. I did think that it would be a benefit to
actually do it during midterms as well as finals because of the hustle and bustle with
the students everyone’s been very stressed out. We cannot believe that the semester’s almost
over in ten days and some individuals are actually having their finals a week early
so I think there was a great benefit. A lot of our students that came in today talked
about how it helped them relax and have ease and not be as anxious. Including myself because I’m putting on finals
events and I was feeling that myself. In a study conducted by the Trauma Center
at Justice Resource Insitute in Brooklyn, Massachusetts women who are diagnosed with
PTSD participated in 8 sessions of 75 minute yoga classes. The study found that women had significantly
reduced symptoms of PTSD than those who are participating in group therapy. But don’t just take our word for it, here’s
what a student had to say about the event. I feel more energized actually. Cause this morning before my government class,
I felt really tired and very anxious but now I feel more energetic. If you missed Round Rock’s yoga session, don’t
stress because ACCENT has two free yoga sessions at Northridge on December 10th from 10:30
to 11:30. And at Highland campus on December 13th from
4-5. Please sign the waivers provided.
