Ardha Chandrasana to Sugarcane Pose Tutorial with Nichi Green, EkhartYoga

Hi I’m Nichi from EkhartYoga.com, In this
short class we are going to be exploring sugarcane pose, another version of Ardha Candrasana.
Come in to Ardha Chandrasana first starting on the left leg. Bend your left knee and take
your hand about a foot in front of you, you can always have a block underneath your hand.
Take a right hand to your hip and start to lift your right leg, really flexing the toes
on the right foot, pull the right shoulder up and back, and extend out strongly through
that heel. Get your balance here first. Find your breathing. Keep extending strongly through
that right leg. Feel that alignment. Take that arm towards the sky. And then open the
chest a little bit more, drawing the right arm bone back. Breathe in. And if you exhale
start to bend your right leg, bringing your heel towards your bum and then reach back,
take hold of the top of the foot. Find the balance there first, and then as you breathe
in, start to press the foot strongly into the hand. So you start to feel more of a stretch
in the right thigh. Draw your right knee up and back and feel that stretch now in the
right shoulder – Sugarcane Pose. Breathe in, open back into you Arda Chandrasana nice and
slowly. And then exhale, bend your left leg and bring the right foot down. So lets try
that on the other side. Breathing in, exhale take your hand down in front of your right
foot, start to lean into the fingertips of the right hand, firm up that right leg and
take your hand to your hip. It’s good to get your balance here first. Try to tuck your
right hip bone under. Pull the toes back on that left leg towards the shin. Extend strongly
through your heel. Lift the left hip up and draw the left shoulder back. And then slowly
start to take that left hand up towards the sky. Find your breath. Breathe in, And then
as you breathe out, bring your heel towards your bum, and take hold of the top of your
left foot. And then extend that left knee back. Press the foot against the hand. Activate
the toes, really wake up that left foot. Draw the left shoulder back. Feel that stretch
into the left shoulder. And then inhale, open into your Ardha Chandrasana. And exhale coming
back up. So hope you enjoyed that. If you want to see more of my classes Then go to
