– Yoga nidra, generally,
is a guided relaxation or guided meditation that
most people do lying down. You can do it sitting up, but
of course most people want to do it lying down. (soft music) I love yoga nidra and it took
me a while to discover it. I had been practicing yoga
and meditation for a while. And when I did discover
it, I was blown away. Truly blown away. The feeling of going into my body, with body sensing or body
scanning, and just be able to hang out in all the
different nooks and crannies and places and be able to
rest and feel and go deeply into this inner universe. Felt so restorative and healing

many benefits that have been researched and scientifically proven. One of the things that
it does is create space. Creates a sense of spaciousness within, so that one can really step back and observe all the different thoughts and feelings as they’re arising. And instead of making knee-jerk reactions to things all the time, be able to come from a place of wisdom. And what’s incredible
also about yoga nidra is that it shifts into the healing mode. So very effortlessly and
very easily and very kindly, we’re, we are able to shift from a place of sympathetic nervous system mode, which is our active mode,
our sort of daily thinking mind mode, also could
go into flight or fight, into the healing mode
called relaxation response, parasympathetic nervous system mode. And these days we’re
actually can get really stuck in the sympathetic
nervous system of the act of flight or fight,
without a way to get out. And when that happens, we
