In our chair yoga classes, we like to integrate
standing balanced postures when possible. Starting with a prep pose, Maria and I are
going to stand nice and tall, lifting heart and tucking the tail slightly. Engage the
belly and begin to exhale as you draw your outside knee towards your heart. Flex the
foot, exhale the arm straight out to your side and straighten the leg. Exhale to fold
forward, bring the hand towards your hip. Inhale, come up. Bring the arm overhead. Bring
the knee to your heart. Exhale to a straight leg. Once more. Lean forward, takes the leg
behind you. Even if you’re only an inch from the floor, it’s perfect. Inhale, bring the
arm overhead and knee to the heart. Exhale to a straight leg. Release the leg down, stand
tall in tadasana or mountain pose and repeat on the other side.
