Dog Yoga Poses & Positions : Centering the Breathing in Yoga Poses for Humans & Dogs

Number two centering breathing. So the first
exercise is just have your dog come and sit and lay down in front of you. You just want
to place your hands on your dog. You are going to sit up nice and straight. Bring your chin
level with the floor and you just want to begin to focus on you breath. Just start by
observing how you are breathing, if your breath is quick, and short, is your breath shallow,
are you only breathing into a chest and if so you can begin to slow your breath and breath
in to the side of the ribcage and into the belly and into the back. A lot of the communication
that we do with our dogs is through our body language. So if we are breathing short and
fast and shallow from the chest that is how we breath when we are fearful or when we are
anxious or when we are upset and our dogs are able to pick up on that when we breath
from out belly deep in our ribcage. Then we breath that is how we breath from our relax
and our piece. We send that messages to our dogs. So they say that dogs could sense fear
what is it that dogs can sense when they sense fear. It is muscular tension it is the way
you are breathing when you are when some one is around a dog they are scared they tend
to get really tense and they tend to hold there breath or breath really short and quick.
So the message that want to send to our dog is one of relaxation and one of peace. Whenever
we are working with our dogs even today this causes a little different from a typical obedience
class where you are really working to manipulate or to get your dog to preform sort of actions.
Teaching your dog sort of to commands. Today just have fun if your dog gets it that is
fine. If your dog doesn’t to a posture that is fine. Don’t allow yourself to become agitated
or frustrated with your dog. Just allow yourself to be connect with your dog in a very loving
and patient and kind way. So lets continue to sit and just focus on our breath. Just
focus on relaxing the throat, the shoulders, the muscles around the eyes, and the muscles
around the mouth. Set your attention the time with your dog your are going to be focus on
them, that you are going to be patient and loving and kind with them.
