Gentle Yoga Poses : Yoga Rock a Baby Pose


Rock a baby it is very soothing, but it also
is great for opening up hips. You take the left foot in towards you and take that left
foot right inside your right hand. Take your left hand right on the outside of that left
knee, and it’s like you are holding a baby in your arms. You can if you wish take that
right leg in towards you, but it’s not necessary, you can keep it out. You can if you wish connect
the hand a little bit wider, take that foot right up to the elbow, whatever it is for
you and sit up straight and tall. Now here, opening up the hip, lengthening the hamstring,
and great for the lower back. Take a deep breath into your nose, now exhale, rock back
and forth on the sit bones as you keep hugging that knee right in towards you. Just breathe
in deep through you nose, and exhale, and another deep breathe in, exhale. With each
breathe you’re taking that baby in a little but towards you, but keep the idea of the
shoulders to keep them relaxed. Now lean forward and release the hands. Take the right foot
forward and bring that inside the left hand, right hand around the right knee and our left
leg can come in or stay out. That foot can rest up to the elbows or stay on the wrist,
wrap the arms around or just slightly hold, but hug the baby right in towards you. Rock
the baby back and forth. Lubrication of the joint, open up the hips, helps to offset the
onset of arthritis and alleviate discomfort. Breathe in deep through your nose and exhale,
keeping the shoulders relaxed. Now just lean forward and release the hands and release
the legs and shake them right out.
