Hanuman ji’s bhakti different from Gopi’s bhakti| Bhakti Yog | Types of Bhakti yoga | Q&A

Am I right in understanding this retreat’s emphasis is on Bhakti Yog? That’s right. So Gita does teach us many paths. But in the Gita Shri Krishna is very clear.
He says, (Sanskrit verse) Arjun, by none of these techniques will you attain me. (Sanskrit verse) Shri Krishna says, “Arjun I am attained through Bhakti and through nothing else.” That is the Gita. If you want “BrahmaGyan” or Gyan of God, you will get it through Bhakti. Arjun, God is everywhere. But you will attain Him through Bhakti or Love. The unfortunate thing is that the
commentators on the Gita, they distort the simple, straightforward meaning. You
read the different commentaries. You read their explanations of this verse. They will distort it out of shape. Shri Krishna says, “By Bhakti alone Arjun am I known.”
Maharshi Patanjali (we are discussing his yogasutras) I have read so many of these commentaries. They do not give the simple, straightforward meaning. Maharshi Patanjali says, (sanskrit verse)
Four times in 196 sutras he says. that in order to achieve success, you will
have to surrender to God. You call it surrender or you call it Bhakti.
The Ramayan also says, Hindi verse You may be able to extract ghee from water. you may be able to extract oil from the sand. But without
Bhakti, without devotion, you cannot cross over ocean of life and death.
Without Bhakti, you will not get the Grace. Without Grace, Maya will remain invincible. So, it’s not JKYog, it’s every scripture. the Srimad Bhagavatam says, sanskrit verse In Uddhav Gita, Shri Krishna is telling Uddhav that it is by Bhakti, by love, I am attained. So I have heard that there are different
kinds of love for Shri Krishna like Shant Bhav, Dasya, Sakhya, Vatshalya, and Madhurya Bhav, and that Gopi prem, which was under Madhrya Bhav, is the highest kind of love. So I was like Hanuman ji is the
best example of Dasya Bhav. So how is his devotion different from
you know a Gopi serving Krishna or how is Sudama, who is an epitome of Sakhya Bhav,
his affection is different from a Sakhi having an affection for Radha Rani? So if
you elaborate on that. Hanuman ji is of course the personification of Bhakti. He has got the highest level of Bhakti for Ram
because he is 11th Rudra. Nothing can be said to marginalize his Bhakti in any way. However, there is a Rasik Bhakti. The Bhakti found in Braj is Rasik Bhakti. The Rasik Saints, they laugh at the other kinds of the Bhakti They say you know, this doesn’t have the sweetness, the Bliss, which is there in the land of Braj. So, there is Bhakti, there is sweeter bhakti and there is the sweetest Bhakti. Just like you have sugarcane, jaggery, sugar and
candy. It’s the same thing becoming sweeter and sweeter and sweeter.
Similarly the Rasik Saints also know that Shri Krishna is God. But there Love
is so intimate, they forget that. Once in a while they remember. but usually
that knowledge slips up and that is why they engage in such wonderful, loving
pastimes with God. that is why Ras Khan, he’s an
example of Rasik Saint, he writes, Big Big personalities are meditating upon God. Narad, Sukadev, Vyas, they are all chanting God’s name and finding neither His
beginning nor His end. The Vedas are saying, “not this, not this”. The same in God is being made to dance for Chach (buttermilk) by the Gopis. That
means his almightiness is hidden and he has come to the level
of the devotees. This is the Rasik Bhakti. This is specially in the land of Braj. naturally the Ras, the Bliss increases. As
long as He is God, you have got awe and reverence for Him. But when that
Godliness is hidden, then all you think is He is mine. And in
that sentiment, you feel close and intimate to Him. So Hanuman ji’s devotion is the
ideal for Dasya Bhav. The Sakhas, their Bhakti has got
tinges of Rasik Bhakti in it. Because they are only thinking that He’s only my friend. When it
is in that Madhurya Bhav, the love of the Gopis, the Prem or that devotion manifests in its completion. That is why Narad ji in his Bhakti Darshan,
he has written 84 aphorisms to describe Bhakti. And then he says, I need to give
an ideal in whom did this Bhakti manifest. He says, (sanskrit verse) This Bhakti I am talking about the Acharyas of this are not those, not Prahlad, not Ambarish, not Prithu, nobody. It is the Gopis of Braj. So we have to
study their Bhakti and understand the wonderful sentiments they have. Great
Saints have written varieties of bhajans.
okay there was this bhajan abour Uddhav and Gopis sung today. So these
all these bhajans, the Saints have revealed the sentiments that shows how
sweet this is. Kripaluji Maharaj says, Hindi verse God is full of sweetness and Bliss. You will get that sweetness in the Yog sadhna. You will get that Sweetness in the Gyan sadhna. You will get the immense sweetness in Bhakti. In that, the Ras of Shri Krishna in Dwarika is good. You know in
English there is good, better and best. so the Dwarika Ras is good but He’s the
King. In Mathura, He is still the king. But little bit of His all-mightiness is hidden.
Hence it is better. And in Vrindavan, He is no longer God, it’s completely hidden. This is the best. That is the Braj Ras.
