Greetings everybody! My name is Yogini Rasa and I’m Open Yoga teacher. We meet on the site yogaopenyoga.com and this is the site of the International Open Yoga University, open for all those
people who are willing to learn yoga from very basic, step by step, from the
basic kinds of yoga up to more advanced materials. So we are on hatha yoga and this
is kind of specialization because we can do yoga by means of any kind of yoga. But we have hatha yoga that is static with the postures (poses) and
this is what people mainly see as a yogi in specific pose holding it for
some time. Where are these poses coming from? There
are actually ancient treatises and people are reading them, getting to know them. And there are full of modern books with
very wide and detailed descriptions of many different poses. Actually the core of yoga gives very
short description up to three, four sentences for each pose. Many names of
the poses have been made up lately by the Western world. And
many details really come from the Western people that for some kind of
reason make things complicated. Because everybody wants to have the system very
ready with the very tiny details for how to do the pose. The problem here is that we are very different and
if one person is able to do the pose, the other one might not be due to some some
differences in the body or of this moment. Because imagine how do you feel during the morning, how
do you feel during the evening and how do you feel
in the middle of the day? Those will be probably three different feelings for
the same person. How do you feel when you are well and when you you’re unwell? So the same poses will be will be suitable for
the different kind of feelings. However we’ll make them differently and
we will adjust them. Hatha yoga has as many poses as there can be poses (as
many poses as we can do). Thereby of these very details that sometimes are conflicting, long and
complicated, people get confused and even don’t start doing yoga. It is not a nice sight when you see two people who are conflicting, disputing
on how to do one or the other pose and adding some more and more
details that might be suitable and might not be. For the beginner – the minimum is the best. Because what we
have forgotten is how to feel natural and balanced. We always run somewhere, we are in a
rush, because time is money and so on. There comes yoga and say “Relax!” Or on the opposite “Get more effective!” These amazing things can happen when
we just come down, pay a little bit more attention to the details and then we
ourselves kind of evolved in this pose finding the most suitable position and
angles, sides or might probably just imagining that we’re doing the pose if your body is not ready for
it. The pose is giving us the physical
effect and subtle effects. It is very interesting to observe this process and when we are in the pose we study ourselves we explore ourselves. It gives us a very nice feeling of
harmony and how to be natural. It means that in many ways yoga itselfl
is discovering its method and the way how we should do the things. Just by
doing the poses we start understanding ourselves better. The system itself also has the key of
understanding the entire system. There are some fake kinds of yoga. This gives us the enormous
blocks as sometimes people say: “Yoga is coming from India” Do we
really have to take the Indian lifestyle and food or do we have to dress like
they do? Yoga is not India. India is not Yoga. Yoga is not religion. Religion not yoga. Thereby be very careful with
this. For whatever reason you come to use the benefits given by yoga it’s wonderful and it’s great. Just start somewhere and see for yourself how well
it goes and what to do. Apply the common sense. Don’t rush right away because when the
people start to learn running they don’t go for the Olympics to Rio. When you have a small
child you don’t put the baby as the main leader of the international
corporation because baby needs to grow up. They’re great prodigies that
can do things right away, very talented. For example little child sits at the piano
and and he is or she’s the master there. But those are exceptions.
Not common. We do not face this often.
You take on responsibility for yourself when you explore yourself because only you
can understand yourself. A lot of times we just go to somebody hoping that our
husband and wife, brother, sisters, friends will understand us
better that we do understand ourselves. Hatha yoga be the one that
