Learn Restorative Yoga Poses : Chest Extension Restorative Yoga

A really great way to relieve your shoulder
tension as well as opening your heart and opening up the back door to the heart is with
chest extension Inflection. So I’m going to ask Gina to take her hands to her shoulders.
Notice how she’s sitting in heroes pose on, or heels, now you can sit in any comfortable
seated position or you can even do this standing. Just get somewhere comfortable. But notice
she has the nice long spine, that part you need to have no matter how you?re sitting.
She’s going to inhale and we want to lift her elbows up so they’re in line with her
shoulders, good, but you want to make sure your shoulders are relax, so make sure you
don’t pull your shoulders up to your ears as you do this. She’s going to inhale in and
as she inhales, she’s going to pull her shoulder blades back together. So she’s squeezing through
the rombouise, right here in the middle of her back, she’s got like a crease right there.
Good. And now she exhales, she’s going to bring her elbows together, opening up the
back door to her heart, so her shoulder blades are pressing away from each other. Good. She’s
going to inhale, open up her heart, fill the lungs from the bottom up, good, the shoulders,
the elbows come back, like they’re pressing a beach ball together behind you. And then
she’s going to exhale and pull those elbows together, drawing her belly button in, good,
and opening up this back door to your lung, good, and then bringing the elbows out to
the sides and lowering the hands back. Great way to relieve shoulder tension.
