Lost ‘n Found Yoga Expansion

Lost ‘n Found Yoga Expansion

Hey guys, it’s April from
Lost ‘n Found Yoga. I thought it was time to pop on here and give you all an
update on where things are at with our renovations. As you all know we have been
expanding into the space next door. Part of this expansion has involved creating
new space for ALIGN: Yoga for Mental Health program, and the other piece of
this renovation has been creating a new 30 person studio. What you don’t know is
that this new studio is going to be an official barre studio. We will now have
barres mounted to the walls so that you can do all kinds of other cool exercises
that we haven’t been able to do with our barre system that goes down the middle of
the room. These new wall-mounted barres will allow you to do exercises that
allow you to put a lot more body weight on the barres, hang off the barres doing
different exercises for your upper body. There’s also another piece to this
renovation that many of you have been speculating about. Some of you have
noticed the big space next door that doesn’t quite look like it’s going to be
a yoga studio and you’re not quite sure what it is.
I’ve heard ideas like it’s a cafe or it’s gonna be more offices or it’s going
to be a new front desk and lobby area. Well, today I am going to tell you what
that space is for. It is the home of our new comprehensive Pilates program. The
core of our comprehensive Pilates program is the Pilates Reformer. this
piece of equipment is revolutionary. It is designed to build strength and
flexibility and mobility in ways that are incredible. It’s a fabulous tool for
building strength but it’s also a fabulous tool for rehabilitation. So if
you’re struggling from injuries or you’re struggling with some mobility
issues, perhaps you’re a senior and you’re having a hard time getting off
the couch or walking up stairs this will help you. But in the same way,
if you’re an athlete or you’re a yoga practitioner and you want to improve
your yoga practice or your athletic performance, this piece of equipment will
help you do that. Four of our Lost ‘n Found Yoga
instructors that you know and love have been trained and will be ready to offer
you reformer-based Pilates classes as well as private one-on-one therapeutic
Pilates Reformer work come January 2020. Hi, my name is Sydney Dick and I am so
excited that I get to start teaching on reformers here at Lost ‘n Found Yoga
and Pilates in January. I’ve been teaching on the reformer now for a
little over a year and I just see so much benefit to using this tool,
incorporating it into whatever other practice you’re in right now. I also
teach mat Pilates and I teach yoga. I teach classes, I teach private lessons
and everybody can benefit from being on the reformer. It can be an incredibly
gentle and therapeutic practice. It can be a very intense cardio-based
strengthening practice. You can use some stretching skills that you learn in yoga
and apply them to your reformer work. You can take things you’ve learned on the
reformer and apply them to any of your mat based classes, Pilates or yoga. It
really helps you find the proper alignment and you can’t cheat because
they move when you do something wrong, and then we can go back and correct it
and we can find all these wonderful tools to make your practice the best it
can be. I’m really excited to start teaching on
the reformers here at Lost ‘n Found Yoga in January. I hope a lot of you come
out and try these classes. They’re so much fun. Hi everyone, my name is Haley
Bucknall and I’ve been teaching yoga for the past four to five years and I’m
looking forward to doing this whole new thing called Pilates using a reformer
which is super fun. I think we’re gonna have so much fun on the reformers and
for any of you yogis out there that are a
little nervous, this is going to give you the best experience for you. It will
enhance your yoga practice and more importantly you’ll find this inner
strength that you’ve never knew you had. More importantly it’ll give you the
mental strength to help you on your everyday life including your mat but
mostly in your body. I’m looking forward to meeting you and seeing you in my
reformer classes and I cannot wait. Hi, I’m Heather Wallace. I’ve been teaching
yoga here at Lost ‘n Found Yoga since 2016. Around the same time I had a
surgery which left me feeling estranged in my own body. I wasn’t sure what the
answer was going to be to help me reconnect and heal but that answer was
actually Pilates. I fell in love with the practice and the way that my body was
able to move and even just connecting back with my breath.
I fell so in love with the practice that I took my Level 1 mat teacher training
program, so I’ve been teaching mat here since 2018. I never thought that I was
ever gonna do a reformer teacher training program. It was something that I
was like “No, that’s okay, not for me.” But when I had the opportunity to take it I
couldn’t pass it down and I’m so happy that I said yes. The reformer helps you
move your body and your breath in a way that you never thought was possible. You
get so much feedback back from the reformer, and in a way that just you
can’t get on your mat. I know it can look intimidating and I was definitely that
person that I was like “Nope, not doing this, it’s too scary.” But I promise you it’s
not as scary as it looks. So hopefully you can ease into it.
Join me, a familiar face and we’ll see you on your reformer soon! My name is Diana
Harpwood and I have been teaching here at Lost ‘n Found Yoga for the last 10
years. I am also a dance teacher and I’ve been dancing for my whole life but
teaching dance for over 12. I obsessed with movement of all kinds and
I’m so happy to add Pilates to the repertoire. I love seeing people age
better I love letting people feel better in
their own bodies and finding movements and movement patterns that work for them.
I love the effects that movement have on the body and also the brain. I just feel
like people are happier and they’re moving better in their own bodies and
aging actively and that yoga and Pilates are for everyone. We truly believe at
Lost ‘n Found Yoga that yoga and Pilates is for every body. We want you to
develop the strength and the flexibility and the body awareness to live actively
to be active for many many years. In my 10 years of teaching here I have
encountered so many clients that have specific injuries or specific problems
that they would love for me to tune into but I really didn’t have the knowledge
then and this program with its therapeutic lens really has prepared me
to help people on an individual basis and work with people privately to set up
a program to really help them in their own body. I am so excited for this change
and for this new program and for everything that it will bring to the
clients here and I hope to see you on your reformer in January! Prices for our
reformer class schedule and our private sessions as well as our reformer
schedule will be coming out soon, so keep an eye on our social media channels, your
email and our website. Thanks so much and I hope to see you on your reformer.
