Physical Therapy Exercises for Seniors: Yoga Exercises – 24Hr HomeCare

This is Steve a licensed physical therapist
with 24Hr Homecare. I’m here with Polly and today we’re going to go over some Yoga exercises
specifically for seniors. Now, when you’re doing these ideally if your
balance is not that great I want you to have something to hold on to or do it with a partner
or caregiver. Now, the first thing that Polly is going to
start with is that she is going to face the side and she’s going to do crescent moon.
She’s going to reach up and reach as high as she can, get a good look up towards the
ceiling and she’s going to hold this for about 10 seconds and then stand back up tall. She’s going to do it again, she’s going to
go right back into it and maybe try to get a little bit lower and reach up a little bit
higher. The next thing that she’s going to do is she’s
going to go into warrior pose, so she’s going to reach her arms out and she’s going to lunge
all the way to the left side, looking at her left thumb. Come back up. Now from here, she’s going to
go onto reverse warrior, she’s going to reach back and she’s going to lunge forwards with
this leg, just like that. Once again, hold each pose for about 10 seconds
and for the next one she’s going to do what’s called extended side angle. She’s going to put her left arm on her left
thigh, lunge forwards into that left leg, reach up and rotate up and stand. For more exercise videos please visit us at
