WHAT IS MY BODY TYPE? | How Ayurveda Affects Our Body? | The Health Space


Have you ever wondered why some people
tend to gain weight more easily than others. How some people flare up emotionally
at even small instances… While others remain calm and
composed in similar scenarios. This is because all of us are
divided as per our body types. And that is according to Doshas in Ayurveda. So what is your body type, let’s find out today. So firstly let’s understand what
is the Pancha Maha-Bhoota. This means 5 elements. Ayurveda believes that everything in
the universe is made of 5 elements. Air, water, fire, space and earth. And so is the human body. Furthermore, these elements in different
combinations constitute to the 3 bio-energies… Or life forces or the Tridosha. Which is your Vata, Pitta and Kapha. All of these Doshas can actually be found in
different combinations or even altogether… In different body types. However, the one that is the most dominant
constitute your body type or your Prakriti. So let’s find out today. So let’s first talk about the Vata body type. As you can see the Vata Prakriti always tends
to be a little lean or on the slender side. They also don’t tend to put
on weight more easily. Vata is made of the elements air and space. It is predominantly characterized by movement. The main characteristics of the
Vata body type are as follows. Number: 1… Thin body and difficulty to gain weight
or do not put on weight very easily. Number 2: You get constipated very easily. Your teeth are going to be prone to decay. You might get very irregular sleep
or a very disturbed sleep pattern. You might be anxious and an over-thinker
and may also be prone to depression. And lastly, you are going to be a quick eater
and also might get constipated very easily. So most of these hold for you
then you are a Vata Prakrati. Now, let’s speak about Pitta. So, here’s the Pitta body type. Pitta body type is generally
on the medium sized frame. So neither too light nor too heavy. The pitta energy is composed of fire and water. The main seat of our Pitta is in our stomach. So now, let’s see a few characteristics
that you might resonate with… If your body type is a Pitta body type. You have a medium sized frame. You’re very ambitious. You have good leadership qualities
and are also open to new ideas. You don’t tend to gain weight very easily. And you actually feel hungry
at small regular intervals. You dislike the heat and you feel very hot. You get angry very fast. You’re also highly intellectual. You’re also prone to a lot of hair fall
especially baldness in nails. And lastly, you’re prone to diarrhoea and
loose motion as opposed to getting constipated. So if these resonate with you then
you might be the Pitta body type. Now, let’s understand our last and
final body type which is Kapha. Kapha body type… Structure and stability define the Kapha body type. The Kapha mind is calm and the body is a
little sturdy and always on the higher side. That’s how you understand that
it’s a Kapha body type. Also, you have a little slower metabolism. The Kapha body type is made of
elements earth and water. So now let’s look at a few characteristics
that you might resonate with… if you are a Kapha body type. You are kind, compassionate and generous. You are cool headed and you
do not get angry very easily. You’re calm and composed. You’re a very good decision maker. But you also tend to procrastinate a lot and tend
to become a little lazy and inactive at times. You’re hair is thick and skin is oily. And one more thing, you’re also very
particular about the food on your plate. You take meal times very seriously. So having understood this… The one thing that I want you to keep in mind is… That now a days, we rarely find a pure body type. So you can always be a mixture of 2 or 3 with
one being more dominant over the other. Also, every time a client comes to
me asking me what is my body type… The first and most simple basic answer that I give them is… That you need to go to an Ayurvedic doctor. Who is trained to read your pulse
and other body parameters… And help you understand and suggest which type you are. However, over the years, Ayurvedic
experts have actually developed… These basic guidelines with commonalities
and common traits between these doshas… Like we discussed today. Although this might be not completely accurate. But this does give us a basic understanding
of our personality type… And the way our bodies and mind function. So there you have it. This was my basic understanding that I
have passed on to you about body types. In our next video, we are going
