Yoga Poses for Fibromyalgia Patients : Sun Salutation Yoga Pose for Fibromyalgia Patients

And, now I’m going to demonstrate the Sun
Salutation. It’s a modification one, the one that I used when I was first diagnosed with
fibromyalgia. It helped me to get some energy back into my body and keep my joints flexible
and movable. So, I’m going to show you first where we take the hands in and we inhale up.
And, we forward fold, exhale. Bend your knees, drop your head and then place your hands on
your shins and look up and inhale. Then, you’ll exhale and lower the head back down. As you
come back, place your knee on the floor. And, you can either go straight up from here or
you can go into a lower lunge. Keep something soft under your knee. Exhale it back down
and take the knee back. From here, you’re going to go up into a modified downward facing
dog. Bend the knees and press the chest down. You’ll flow and exhale back down. And, then
step the other foot back through the hands. Send it back up with an inhale or into a low
lunge. And an exhale, down. Step that foot back. And, here you take a very easy push
up down and then lower the body and then slowly lift up with the elbows in. Push back up with
the inhale, back to that modified facing dog with the knees bent. And, walk your way back
up. From here, bend the knees and roll up. Take a deep breath up and place it in. Now,
what I would do is everyday I would do that two or three times in the morning. And, then
two or three times in the evening. I slowly but surely, I began to get where I can do
more and more.
