Yoga Seated & Supine Poses : Half Lotus Yoga Pose


Hello. This pose is called ardha padmasana,
half bound lotus pose. And its going to be to open up the groins and to prepare you for
the rest of your poses. One of the things that you need to be extra careful for is the
comfort of your knees in this pose. We’re going to begin by settling in with the sit
bones, so feel free to kind of wave side to side so that you feel each sit bone equally
being pressed into the earth. The next thing that we’re going to do is to bring one of
the legs in. And you should use your most flexible leg first. But what you need to do
is pick up your leg so that you externally rotate from the groins, because you need to
pay attention to the comfort of your knee. And then as you lift, you again need to rotate
pulling it in. You have your whole leg to work with, so don’t feel like day one that
you need to get this foot all the way in to your hip joint. It’s going to be to be sure
that you’re able to externally rotate so that there’s absolutely no discomfort in your knees.
