Yoga Techniques for Advanced Inversions : The Hip Raise Yoga Inversion Pose

Hi, my name is Leta Koontz, and I’m a Yoga
teacher at Schoolhouse Yoga, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I’m here today on behalf
of Expert Village to show you, to demonstrate and to teach you some inversions. The next
inversion we’re going to practice, again our head is going to be a little lower than our
heart and our hips, we’re going to come onto our back, we’re going to bring our hands alongside
us, and we’re going to draw our shoulder blades together. We’re going to pull our navel towards
our spine, and we’re going to lift our hips up off the floor, we’re going to keep our
forehead and chin level with the floor so we’re not tucking here and we’re not lifting
too much and you can stay here for a few breaths, or if you want you can interlace your fingers
and start to walk your shoulders under, keep the hips lifted, again hold here for a few
breaths, keep your breaths low — again get a little comfortable with the blood moving
into the head. When you’re ready to come out of the pose release the hands and lower the
hips back down to the floor.
